Friday, May 20, 2011 I got a change to visit Thatta particularly Makli Necropolis, upon seeing Makli no doubt Sindh province was a part of Ancients Civilizations.
Historically, Thatta known as Patala, means a city or port; and it was the main port on the Indus during Alexander the Great era and serve as the capital of lower Sindh from the 14th to 18th century as well. Between 14th to 18th centuries Thatta was the capital of three successive Dynasties, which were Samma, Argun and Tarkhan before being governed by the Mughal Emperor of Delhi in the year 1592 to 1739. It was 1739 when the Battle of Kanal begun the province ceded to Nadir Shah of Persia after which the city left out.

The archeological sites and the necropolis of Makli prove the prominent style of ancient Sindh Civilization. In Makli necropolis can be found the tombs of Jam Nizammuddin, who reigned from 1461 to 1509, and of Isa Khan Tarkhan, the younger and of his father, Jan Baba, those tombs were constructed before 1644 and still visible until now. Among the edifices in brick and glazed tiles are the Mosque of Dabgir that of Shah Jahah (1644-47) ruling, Abdullah Shah Shrine and other ruling Monarchy tombs.
