Actual Scenario of IDP (internally displaced people) camps in, Bolahri, Kotri, Sindh, Pakistan
IDP Camps 1, Bolahri, Kotri |
IDP 2, Bolahri, Kotri |
Last Oct. 29, 2010 I got a chance to visit the actual scenario of I.D.P (Internally Displaced People) camp located in Bolahri union council, Taluka. Kotri They are the people who are severely affected by the worse flooding in the history of Pakistan, they’re houses were totally inundated by the water came from Indus River and they had not save anything, they had only manage to save their life somehow. It was really a heart ripping situation they sleep in a hard cold soil with only a peace of cloth they use for mat, the tent is just enough for 1 person but the people staying there are more than one and they’re only waiting for the water rationing for them to have water and no food to eat. I had observed there’s no place for cooking I’m thinking until when these people will survive now the weather is getting cooler as the winter season is coming. The threatening facts their in the camps is the calamities because garbage is just their surrounding; and adding the stagnant and smelly water also where I my self cannot stay for like 1 day being expose to smells it gives me head ache and the present of a lot of flies everywhere as well.
I have not able to bring camera because it was un- schedule visit, I missed to capture how sorrowful the faces of the people specially children there and the difficulties of the situation. I went to the IDP with my field worker colleagues. On our way to the third camps we had experienced challenges, like the van we’re riding got stuck in the smelly mud because the engine got watered. It’s really difficult to reach the IDP camps due the roughness and muddy road that you’ve go through.
They ’re desperately need food and good place for living, I really can’t say a words until when and how they be able to survive with the situation they are living into now. I think these people needs relocation not just rationing food and other things, they’re need a total make over for their lives as they had not save any of their belongings.
